Our Story
Roots in the Pacific, Growing in Oregon
Since 2010, Pasefika Outreach has served as a cultural bridge for Pacific Islander families navigating life in Oregon. What began as a passionate grassroots effort has grown into a vital community pillar, dedicated to ensuring our youth grow up with a deep, unbreakable connection to their heritage.
For over a decade, our heart has been in our local schools. Through a long-standing partnership with the Salem-Keizer School District, we have worked directly within the educational system to provide cultural representation, mentorship, and advocacy. By bringing Pacific Islander history, language, and arts into accessible spaces, we help students find their voice, take pride in their identity, and thrive academically and socially.
Our Four Pillars
To truly preserve a culture, we must support the people who carry it. Our organization operates on four core pillars:
Education: Partnering with schools and community spaces to teach history, language, and cultural values.
Dance: Passing down the storytelling, discipline, and joy of traditional Pacific Islander dance forms.
Cultural Arts: Preserving ancestral knowledge through music, traditional crafts, weaving, and visual arts.
The Family Unit: Strengthening the home by providing multigenerational support, family workshops, and community resources.
